Travel to Mongolia: The Land of Blue Sky and Endless Steppes

MyHoliday2 is in our second year of running tours to Mongolia. We have partnered with an amazing, professional local operator who has been running Mongolia tours since 1954.

So why visit Mongolia? Mongolia is a landlocked country in Central Asia, bordered by Russia to the north and China to the south, east, and west. It is the largest landlocked country in the world, and its vast territory is home to a variety of landscapes, from the snow-capped Altai Mountains to the Gobi Desert.

Mongolia is a popular destination for adventure travelers, who come to explore its wild and remote wilderness. The country is home to a number of national parks, including Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, which is known for its dramatic rock formations and forests. Visitors can also go hiking, camping, and horseback riding in the Mongolian countryside.

In addition to its natural beauty, Mongolia is also a fascinating country with a rich culture and history. The Mongols were once one of the most powerful empires in the world, and their legacy can be seen in the country’s many historical sites, such as the Orkhon Valley, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Here are some of the top things to do in Mongolia:

  • Go on a wildlife safari: Mongolia is home to a variety of wildlife, including gazelles, wild horses, and snow leopards. You can go on a safari to see these animals in their natural habitat.

  • Visit a nomadic ger camp: A ger is a traditional Mongolian yurt, and staying in a ger camp is a great way to experience Mongolian culture. You can learn about the nomadic way of life and enjoy traditional Mongolian food.

  • Go hiking in the Altai Mountains: The Altai Mountains are a stunning mountain range that offers stunning views and challenging hiking trails.

  • Explore the Gobi Desert: The Gobi Desert is one of the world’s largest deserts, and it is home to a variety of wildlife, including camels and wild Bactrian horses.

  • Visit the Orkhon Valley: The Orkhon Valley is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is home to a number of historical sites, including the ruins of the ancient city of Karakorum.

If you are looking for an adventure-filled and culturally rich travel destination, then Mongolia is the perfect place for you.

Here are some tips for planning your holiday to Mongolia:

  • The best time to visit Mongolia is during the summer (June-August), when the weather is warm and sunny.
  • The shoulder seasons (May-June and September-October) are also good times to visit, as there are fewer tourists.
  • The winter (November-March) can be very cold, but it is a beautiful time to see the snow-capped mountains and the frozen lakes.
  • If you are planning on doing any hiking or camping, be sure to pack warm clothing and plenty of supplies.
  • It is also a good idea to learn some basic Mongolian phrases before you go.
