Best Time To Travel – The very best time of year to tour Nepal is between September and January as it’s generally dry and skies are clear, which is why climbers and hikers love this season.

Capital City – The capital and largest city in Nepal is Kathmandu. Also known as the city of temples, the city stands at an elevation of approximately 1,400 metres (4,600 feet) above sea level in the bowl-shaped Kathmandu valley in central Nepal.

Currency – The national currency in Nepal is the Nepalese Rupee. The approximate exchange is $1 = 85 Nepalese Rupee. Please make sure you have cash (rupees or US dollars are also widely accepted) with you if trekking as not all hotels, restaurants accept credit card and ATM’s can be unreliable.

Approximate Travel Time – From Australia to Nepal the approximate flight time is 11 hours via Singapore or Hong Kong.

Religion – 81% of people living in Nepal practice Hinduism.

Famous Dish – Dal Bhat is the famous staple food of Nepal -Dal Bhat is mainly rice served along with lentil soup and vegetable curry or chicken (or meat). This meal is the most beloved one amongst Nepali people as it’s wholesome and provides nutrition.

The next very popular dish is Momos. This is one of the favourites for tourists and is a must try for everyone visiting Nepal.

Momos are small envelopes of white flour stuffed with veggies or minced lamb or chicken. They are served with different kinds of sauces and mayonnaise which makes the combination a delicious snack. 

Visa Required – A 90 day Tourist visa can be applied for on arrival at Kathmandu airport.
